Sports
The population of Copenhagen is very active. I was amazed to find the gym packed on a Sunday at 9am.
It was almost as busy as during the weekday rush hour at 5pm.
The streets were filled with runners at that time too.
The Copenhagen half-marathon and marathon are so popular that they usually sell out within an hour.
The locals truly prioritize their health and fitness.
However, like everywhere else, this isn’t universal. The younger generation tends to be more health-conscious, while the older generation still embraces the traditional drinking culture.
Activities
Football Match
While the quality may not match the top European leagues, watching a match between FC Copenhagen, Midtjylland, or Brøndby at the stadium is an unforgettable experience.
The atmosphere is especially electric during matches against Brøndby, Copenhagen’s local rival.
Midtjylland consistently challenges FC Copenhagen’s dominance in the league.

FC Copenhagen regularly qualifies for the Champions League, making these matches particularly exciting. The stadium also hosts the Danish national team’s home games.
The championship consists of 8 teams that play multiple matches against each other throughout the season. The calendar structure differs significantly from what you might be familiar with in major European leagues.

Saunagus Experience / Saunas / Cold Plunge
This activity has become increasingly popular in Denmark, especially during winter months.
It’s a holistic experience that combines spiritual elements with incredible benefits for both body and mind.
A typical session includes three sauna rounds guided by a facilitator (Saunagus master), who creates an immersive atmosphere through carefully chosen music, aromatherapy, heat control, and air flow techniques.
Each 15-minute session is followed by an invigorating plunge into ice-cold water.
While it can be challenging for newcomers, the experience is incredibly rewarding and helps push your personal boundaries.
Here are some of Copenhagen’s most popular Saunagus venues:
